How to meet your MP?

We had fun meeting the MP last night. MP stands for Member of Parliament. People in Singapore are taken care by different MP assigned based on location/region. The MP is similar to the magistrate of the olden China where people beat the drum to complain about injustice. This is the first time for us to do so. I have outlined the procedure below:
1. Register with your I/C. They will assign a number to you. They will also ask you whether this is your first time here. Find a place to wait.
2. Report your problem to …

My PC is getting old but that does not mean i am going to throw it away. My issue was i had a Core 2 Quad cpu. It is still able to offer me the horsepower i need. I tried to shop new rams without success until tonight. The last round, the seller told me to upgrade my motherboard to use the new DDR3 rams. I was tempted to but after a few months, i noticed the DDR2 rams price has dropped further. Here i decided to share some tips …

iPad 2 is coming – why you should not wait

You should be seeing many reports of “iPad 2″ in the news, the newspapers and on the internet.  Did you realise that they were not announced by Apple? Isn’t it strange Apple has been keeping secret?
After reading so many of such reports, i found that they are starting to repeat. Most people do not have anything new to add to it. People are guessing. It will have better resolution, it will have front and back camera, it will have USB port etc. Does anyone know how difficult it will be …

My PayPal problem has came to an end. I approached my credit card bank to do the reversal. Filled up all the forms etc to show that the merchant is not responsing to my emails and also PayPal unwilling to offer assistance. With such adverse situation, there should be no reason for anyone else not to offer their help.
Many thanks to the OCBC bank and those staffs who have helped me. I know i could depend on you.

Singapore Formula 1 is unsuitable for women

I went to the Singapore Formula 1 this year. The pass was for the Padang Grandstand.
I also managed to secure another pass so that i can bring my gf to experience the Singapore Formula 1. After we passed the security check point and crossed the bridge, the whole thing turned ugly. I felt the organizer could have done better.
1. It was s nice idea for them to cover the Padang field with some foam material. However, when we stepped on them, muddy water quickly filled in from underneath. It has …

Recently i have encountered a series of product failure. Let me list down what have failed so far:
1. WD 250GB hard drive (made in 2004)
2. Lite-on DVD writer (made in Dec 2005)
3. Tissot T-touch watch (failed twice during the 2 years warranty period)
4. Seagate 500GB hard drive data corruption
5. A-Data 512MB DDR2 memory
How did i suffer such misfortune? Well, if you look at the above list, many of the parts were very old. The first 3 parts have moving internal components. I am certain it was due to wear and …

PayPal problem

There is a Chinese saying, if you climb the mountain frequently, you bound to meet the tiger!
In the same way, PayPal has been so easy to use to make online payment, i have been using it more often than before until i met the “tiger”! I used to receive very good service from PayPal to safe guard my interest for buying things and service online. It was so easy and they offer consumer protection. I have always given them high rating and try to recommend others to do so. This …

Going from Fast Ethernet to Gigabit Ethernet

My first Gigabit switch, D-Link DGS-1005D
I ran into challenges when i tried to implement my vision of a central storage with hardware redundancy. I tried to move my RAID 1 (or mirrored) 1.5TB hard drives from my PC to the D-Link DNS-323. The hard drives already contained around 1.3TB of data that i have collected from the past years. The backup was painfully long and made me think twice about data restoration. What if i upgrade to gigabit network? You know, just a small high speed data high way between …

What to buy next and reasons

This could be my biggest expenses for the year 2010. I have many things to buy on hand. Here is my hi-tech shopping list:
1. Panasonic Lumix LX5 (YES! I am going travel soon!)
A new compact camera to replace my 3 years old Fujifilm F31fd. Why i chose Panasonic Lumix LX5 is because of the below strong reasons:
i. 1:1 format. I like to experience with square pictures without post processing.
ii. Long battery life just like my trusty Fujifilm F31fd.
iii. Movie recording on AVCHD.
iv. Leica len! What else?!
v. I did not own …

Where is Mr Avocado?

The Alexandra Village has closed down for renovation. What happened to the Mr Avocado?
I found the stall today. I saw 2 men holding familiar glasses of the delicious green stuff inside. Hey! The glasses look familiar! The green liquid looks familiar! It is Mr Avocado!!!
Where are they now? They have moved to the Food Center at Margaret Drive. Go go go! “Thank You Brother!”
