The book is called Treasure of the Dhamma by Ven. Dr. K. Sri Dhammananda. For people who has traveled with me, they will know that I always like to check out all the cupboards in the hotel room for treasure. During the second trip to Sri Lanka, I decided to stay in a different hotel from the first visit. The new hotel was Hilton Colombo Hotel.

In one of the cupboard in the room, I finally found a book that is on par with the Bible.  Treasure of the Dhamma is well organized throughout and easy to read. It contains a series of quotations culled directly from the Tipitaka. Treasure of the Dhamma is organized into 15 parts:

Part 1: The Buddha

Part 2: The Noble Doctrine

Part 3: Morality

Part 4: The Mind

Part 5: Kamma

Part 6: Birth, Death and Nibbana

Part 7: The World Within

Part 8: The World around You

Part 9: The World Beyond You

Part 10: Key Concepts of the Doctrine

Part 11: Women’s Place in Buddhism

Part 12: Practice

Part 13: Teaching and Learning

Part 14: A Glimpse into the Future

Part 15: Addendum

No matter how you choose to read this book, Treasure of the Dhamma is truly rich in the beginning, rich in the middle and rich in the end. The book is also a good source of Buddhism material to the teachers and seekers.

At the end of the trip, i bought a copy of Treasure of the Dhamma for myself as well.
